Can I Use my North Carolina SNAP EBT on Instacart?

Yes. You can also use your North Carolina Food Stamps benefits with Instacart.

Instacart is an online grocery delivery service, to buy groceries at SNAP-participating retailers for delivery or pickup.

Instacart provides groceries through the following EBT SNAP retailers:

  • Food Lion
  • Publix
  • Wegmans

Is there a delivery fee for using North Carolina SNAP EBT Online?

It depends on the retailer.

When you spend $35 or more on groceries online from Amazon, home delivery is free.

Also, depending on the location, a delivery fee may vary from $3.99 to $7 for food purchases less than $35.

Additionally, groceries purchased online with an EBT card from Walmart Grocery are subject to a delivery fee varying from $7.95 to $9.95 depending on location.

You can save money on delivery fees with Walmart by signing up for unlimited delivery for $12.95 per month or $98 per year.

Can I Use EBT at Target online?

Yes. Starting in late 2022, Target will start accepting SNAP EBT payments online through the company’s delivery service, Shipt.

SNAP EBT cardholders will be able to use their EBT card at checkout just like they’d use a credit or debit card.

In addition, they can choose same-day Drive Up or Order Pickup options at no additional cost.

Also, same-day grocery delivery will be available at Target.com for $9.99.

Does DoorDash take EBT?

No. Food delivery apps such as DoorDash, GrubHub, Uber Eats, and PostMates do not currently accept EBT SNAP benefits.

Additionally, North Carolina does not currently participate in the Restaurant Meals Program, which allows eligible EBT cardholders to purchase hot foods.

I have a North Carolina P-EBT Card. Can I use it to shop online?

Yes. Your North Carolina P-EBT card can be used to purchase food items at most major grocery stores and certain online retailers (see list above).

However, you cannot use your P-EBT benefits to purchase hot foods or pre-prepared foods.

Before you shop with your NC EBT card, it is important to know your balance.

There are several ways to check your North Carolina EBT Card Balance 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Here’s how:

  1. Call the EBT Card Phone Number at 1-888-622-7328.
  2. Visit www.ebtedge.com. Once there, click on “Cardholder Login” to check your card balance. You can also download the ebtEDGE mobile app, which is available as a free download on the Apple Store and Google Play.
  3. Check your most recent transaction recipient. Your EBT Card balance will be listed at the bottom of your receipt.
